Los Alamos’ defense will need a big game to stop a potent St. Pius X offense tonight.
Los Alamos plays first home game tonight

The Los Alamos Hilltopper football team will play its first home game of the season tonight. The ’Toppers will welcome the St. Pius X Sartans to town.
Kick off is at 7 p.m.
Los Alamos is 1-0 after coming from behind to beat Pojoaque, 19-13, in its season opener last Friday.
Fullback Derek Salvege will lead Los Alamos’ attack against the Sartans. He scored all three of Los Alamos’ touchdowns — all in the second half — to help the ’Toppers complete their comeback.
Selvage finished with 129 rushing yards on 26 carries against Pojoaque.
Quarterback Nick Quartieri added 23 rushing yards on 9 attempts.He also threw five passes in the game, but had no completions.
After the win, Los Alamos moved up five spots in MaxPrep’s Class 5A rankings, from No. 23 to No. 18. It also passed a pair of District 2-5A foes in the rankings — Española Valley (No. 19) and Bernalillo (No. 23).
St. Pius X, meanwhile, destroyed the team that was favored to win District 2-5A in its opener, Del Norte. St. Pius beat the Knights, 47-8.
Quarterback Drew Ortiz will lead a potent passing attack for the Sartans tonight.
