Mia Nuckols earned a gold medal in all-around competition for the Los Alamos School of Gymnastics at the team’s meet earlier this month.
LASG’s Atomic Tumblers took part in the Eagle Ridge Autumn Invitational Nov. 14-16. In all, 12 teams took part in the event.
Nuckols had LASG’s all-around best total of the day with a personal best score of 35.40.
Nuckols, who is a first year competitor, won gold in the younger bronze division of the Xcel competition, finishing first on uneven parallel bars (9.10), balance beam (8.90) and vault (9.10).
Also at the competition, teammate Aria Warner also competed bronze, but in the older division.
Warner took the bronze in the all-around (33.70) and on three other events, the floor exercises (8.10), beam (8.00) and vault (8.60). She took silver on bars with a 9.00.
The skills in the new USA Gymnastics bronze level are equivalent to those in the Junior Olympic level 3 program.
In the silver younger division Sara Gardner struck gold on beam with an 8.80. Kaeley Bustos took bronze on beam with an 8.65. The new Xcel silver division is comparable in skill level to the JO level 4 division.
In the younger gold division Addie Richie took the gold in the all-around with a 34.00.
