Back-to-back losses to Capital ended the Los Alamos girls basketball season.
After losing to the Jaguars 42-32 Saturday in the regular season finale, the Hilltoppers fell in Santa Fe again Monday, dropping a 42-35 decision in the first round of the District 2-5A tournament.
Capital’s win on Saturday assured that it would host the district tournament first round, as Los Alamos fell to last place in the district standings.
The Jaguars advanced to the second round against Del Norte, while the Hilltoppers end their season with a 6-21 overall record. Capital also topped Los Alamos in the team’s three meetings this season.
The Hilltoppers will miss the state tournament for the first time in over a decade.
Los Alamos will lose Elena Abeyta, Isabell Larribas, Sienna Ahlers, Casey Trujillo, Ashley Logan and Shannon Irwin to graduation.
