LA baseball gets No. 3 state seed

The Los Alamos baseball team earned the No. 3 seed for the Class 5A state tournament.

Los Alamos, who finished 20-6 overall and clinched its seventh consecutive district title Saturday, will host No. 14 Aztec (12-12) in a best-of-three first round series beginning Friday.

District 2-5A runner up Española Valley (18-6) got the No. 6 seed and will play No. 11 Farmington (11-15) in the first round. Los Alamos and the Sundevils could meet for the fourth time this season in the quarterfinals.

Bernalillo (12-13-1) also made the playoffs as the No. 15 seed. The Spartans will play No. 2 Goddard (22-4) in the first round.

Piedra Vista (21-4) earned the No. 1 seed and will begin its title defense against Roswell (9-17).
