And with some heads-up baserunning and timely hitting in the first and third innings, the Tigers were able to do just that.

  • A sappy message on Father&...

Permit me one hokey moment, would you?

While checking out the big, juicy steaks I’ve got in the refrigerator Saturday afternoon, no less than one of which will be sitting in my lower intestine sometime today, I got to thinking about Father’s Day.

Father’s Day has always been kind of an afterthought as holidays go. Few people I know circle their calendars, call up their local caterers and make sure Dad had a day never to forget.

  • Running: Goldman is top predictor

Aaron Goldman was the best predictor on a tough course to predict during this week’s pace race.

This week’s pace race, which is hosted by the Atomic City Roadrunners, was the Gravel Pit Grunt, held near S-Site off West Jemez Road. The Grunt’s 1.3- and 3-mile courses consisted largely of a gravely road with plenty of grass and weeds which obscured the course markings.

Goldman finished with a 53-second error on his predicted finish time on the long course.
