Former Isotope Jamie Romak paced the Reno Aces (46-52) to an 8-4 victory against the Albuquerque Isotopes (44-54) Wednesday night at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nevada.
Romak signed as a free agent with the Arizona Diamondbacks in November 2014. Since then, he has demolished the Isotopes, with whom he played the 2014 campaign. In 15 games this season with Reno, Romak is 18-for-55 with 14 runs scored, two doubles, a triple, five home runs, 17 RBI and 12 walks against Albuquerque. His fifth-inning three-run homer gave the Aces a 5-4 lead that they would not relinquish.
Trevor Story continued his recent hot streak and is still an extra-base machine for the Isotopes. He finished Wednesday night’s game 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. The infielder now has eight hits in his last 17 at-bats with four runs scored, three doubles, three home runs and six RBI over four games. Since joining Albuquerque, 13 of Story’s 19 hits are for extra-bases.
The Isotopes and Aces will play the finale of this four-game series Thursday night at 8:05 p.m. MT. Left-handed pitcher Aaron Laffey (2-3, 4.61 ERA) is scheduled to take the hill for Albuquerque, while Reno will go with right-hander Jhoulys Chacin (2-3, 3.35 ERA) on the mound.
