With just over a minute left in their first-round state playoff game, the Los Alamos girls' basketball team led Goddard by a single point, 58-57.
Los Alamos led by 11 points to start the quarter, 46-35, but the Camaryn Villalpando and the Rockets surged time and time again in the fourth.
Villalpando scored Goddard's first 12 points of the quarter and the Rockets cut Los Alamos' lead to 50-49.
Los Alamos then surged. Ashlynn Trujillo got fouled scoring and added the free throw. Makaela Jones made a pair of free throws and then sunk a 3-pointer to put Los Alamos up 58-51.
Then the Rockets scored six unanswered points to get back within one of Los Alamos.
The 'Toppers, however, hit some clutch free throwsdown the stretch on one-and-ones. Trujillo made a pair and then Kayla Salazar made a pair to put Los Alamos up 62-57 with 36 seconds left.
Goddard sunk a 3-pointer to make it a one basket game with six seconds on the clock. Trujillo, however, made two more free throws and then Jones sealed the deal. Jones stole an inbound pass, got fouled and sunk two free throws to help Los Alamos finish on top, 66-60.
Jones finished with 12 points and was one of four 'Toppers in double digits. Trujillo led Los Alamos with 18 points. Sophia Roybal scored 15 and Salazar scored 11.
