The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys tennis team was knocked out of the state Class 4A tournament Friday night by the Albuquerque Academy Chargers.
Los Alamos, the No. 8 seed, drew top-seeded Academy in the second round. Academy, the most decorated team in state history, shut out Los Alamos 9-0.
Earlier Friday, Los Alamos shut out the ninth-seeded Deming Wildcats to advance to the second round.
Santa Fe, which nipped the Hilltoppers for the 2012 District 2-4A championship, was still alive in the tournament heading into this morning’s play. The Demons, the No. 6 seed, were scheduled to play No. 2 seed Farmington at the Jerry Cline Tennis Complex in Albuquerque.
Academy will take on fourth-seeded Goddard later this morning.
