Los Alamos’ boys and girls tennis teams both beat Cibola, 9-0, last Friday. On Saturday, however, both squads lost to Albuquerque Academy. The Chargers won the boys’ match, 9-0, and the girls’ match, 8-1.
Against Cibola, the Hilltopper girls won every match in straight sets except one. At No. 4 singles, Michelle Alexander lost her first set, 3-6, but rallied to win her next set, 6-3 and then took the third set 1-0 (10-1) to win the match.
The rest of the Hilltopper girls won their matches fairly comfortably.
At No. 1 singles, Sidra Hsieh-Ratliff beat Samantha Lambrecht 6-2, 6-1.
At No. 2 singles, Lauryn Anaya won 6-1, 6-0.
Katya Skurikhin scored a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3.
At No. 5, Maia Menefee won 6-1, 6-0 while Serena Birnbaum won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.
In doubles, Skurikhin and Hsieh-Ratliff won at No. 1, 6-2, 6-0.
At No. 2 doubles, Anaya and Menefee and scored a 6-0, 6-1 win.
At No. 3 doubles, Alexander and Birnbaum won 6-3, 6-3.
The Hilltopper boys, meanwhile, won every match in straight sets to shut out Cibola.
At No. 1 singles, George Margevicius beat Dylan Pfeiff, 6-2, 6-1.
At. No. 2, Andrew Aboshousha won his match, 6-1, 6-2.
Thomas Chadwick scored a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3.
Andrew Tang won both of his sets by a 6-0 score at No. 4.
