The Los Alamos girls’ basketball team doubled up Capital Friday, beating the Jaguars 76-38.
Los Alamos led 17-10 after the first quarter and took a 41-24 lead into halftime. The Hilltoppers kept the pressure on in the third, winning the quarter 23-10, and then cruised to victory.
Ashlynn Trujillo and Kayla Salazar, who lead the district in scoring according to MaxPreps, led Los Alamos’ offense in the game. Trujillo finished with a double double, scoring 23 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the game while Salazar added 16 points.
Eight other ’Toppers scored as well, including Ashley Logan with nine points and Makaela Jones with six.
Salazar currently leads the district with 17.0 points per game. Trujillo is second with 16.7 PPG, but she leads the district in steals (4.1), rebounds (8.1) and assists (4.0).
Los Alamos is now 18-5 overall and 4-1 in District 2-5A. Capital slipped to 4-19, 0-5.
The Hilltoppers’ next game will be Saturday at Española Valley. Española (18-4, 3-1) was scheduled to play Del Norte (11-10, 3-1) Tuesday in a battle between the other two teams tied for first in the district.
