Power still out in White Rock

The power was still out in White Rock, and the Department of Public Utilities was still looking for the cause of the problem at 4 p.m, according to county officials. The break in the line occurred earlier this afternoon, and did not originate in the county’s electrical grid.

"A downed transmission line is the cause of a wide spread power outage in White Rock that began at approximately 2:30 p.m. Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities’ electric linemen are dispatched to the area.  The estimated time as to when power will be restored is unknown. DPU will provide more information once it is available,” DPU Spokeswoman Williams-Hill said.

The county was setting up portable generators starting at 4 p.m. for the traffic lights on State Road 4 to handle the traffic commute, according to County Spokewoman Julie Habiger.

“We do not know how long the power is going to be out,” Williams-Hill said.

Williams-Hill also recommended people keep checking the DPU's Facebook page for updates. For power-related issues, call the Los Alamos County Police Department at 662-8222 for more information.
