  • GOP Martinez elected first female NM governor

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Republican Susana Martinez won election Tuesday as governor of New Mexico, making history as the first Hispanic woman to become a state's chief executive.

    Martinez, 51, defeated Democrat Diane Denish to also be elected New Mexico's first female governor. There was no incumbent in the race, with Democratic Gov. Bill Richardson barred from seeking re-election because he is finishing his second consecutive terms.

  • Mountain raises funds during Fun’d Run

    On Oct. 6, Mountain School students, parents, teachers and other staff participated in their second annual Fun’d Run.
    Students sent 2,664 letters to friends and family soliciting donations for Mountain School, then they ran and walked around the high school track.  
    This year the students raised $33,125, receiving donations from 48 of the 50 states, Canada and Italy.  
    The activity concluded with an assembly recognizing the efforts of all the students, sponsors and volunteers.
