RIO RANCHO — Even for a team with 15 previous state titles under its belt, the win by the Los Alamos Hilltopper girls cross country team was an impressive one.
The Hilltoppers thoroughly dominated the Class 4A state cross country championship race Saturday.
The state title race was held at Rio Rancho High School under cold and windy conditions, conditions that suited Los Alamos just fine.
“The course was really good for us. We train in the cold,” Hilltopper junior Jennifer Mooday said. “When we saw the weather, we were overly excited. We were ecstatic.”
Mooday, who has helped the Hilltoppers to two previous state titles, finished fourth overall in this year’s race.
