Registered sex offender Victor William Loretto, 35, of Jemez Pueblo was arrested at Ashley Pond Monday morning and charged with Lewd Behavior, two counts of Assault on a Peace Officer and Public Intoxication.

Police dispatch received a call at about 11 a.m. from a young girl who reported that Loretto was following her and three other boys and girls, ranging in age from 10-17, and saying inappropriate things to them.

Sgt. Jason Wardlow, Cpl. Larry Baker and Ofc. Ben Hinrichs responded to the scene and located Loretto under the gazebo at the pond.

A man who ordered a group of Los Alamos teens to lie down on the ground and who hit two of them with the butt of a rifle was arrested at 1602 37th Street Friday following a joint search by officers from the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office and Los Alamos Police Department.

Jeremy W. Johnson, 24, 1602 37th Street, is charged with two misdemeanors and six felonies in connection with an ongoing investigation into a teen drinking party that occurred shortly before 1 a.m. June 7.

Dr. Aparimita Lahiri is often seen walking around town with her 12-year-old son Soumyo Lahiri-Gupta by her side. Whether entering Los Alamos Medical Center to admit a patient or her private practice in Central Park Square, they make a delightful pair.

“Sometimes my patients want to meet Soumyo, so I let him come in and say hi because it brightens their day,” Lahiri said. “But most of the time he’s in the lobby area or in the nurse’s station.”

Adam Shipman filed a tort claim notice with the Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office Monday for damage he says was caused to his home at 2399-B 37th Street during phase II of the Diamond Drive Project. A tort claim is a federal or state act which, under certain conditions, waives governmental immunity and allows lawsuits by people who claim they have been harmed by wrongful acts including negligence, by government agencies or their employees.
