The Los Alamos County general obligation bond for a leisure pool at the aquatic center failed overwhelmingly Wednesday night as unofficial results were released at the Justice Center.
Ballots were mailed out to residents who voted against the pool measure 3,851-2,239.
Final design and construction costs were expected to be $6.1 million. The county had allocated $3.1 million from the General Fund. Citizens were asked to approve an increase in property taxes through a General Obligation (GO) bond of up to $3 million. The average increase in property taxes on a home valued at $300,000 would have been $32.35 annually, based on county estimates.
