Los Alamos National Laboratory director Charlie McMillan tried his best to be in two places at once Thursday.
McMillan was in Santa Fe in the early afternoon to testify in front of the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board, which was in town to quiz lab and NNSA officials about a variety of subjects.
McMillan, though, had to duck out early because he had to race back to Los Alamos for a meeting with Admiral James A. Winnefield, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Winnefield is a four-star Navy Admiral, and as Vice Chairman is the second highest-ranking U.S. military officer.
McMillan, who has been on the job less than a year, testified in front of the board that safety is his top priority.
