The Truck Route was closed for about 45 minutes Wednesday afternoon because of a bomb threat at the SOC shooting range at TA-72 on Los Alamos National Laboratory property.
“Someone called about 3:45 p.m. and said there was a bomb on the shooting range,” LANL spokesperson Kevin Roark said. “The Truck Route was closed. Emergency management responded and the area was checked out by a bomb-sniffing dog. The road reopened at 4:22 p.m.”
As a result, that caused a massive backup on the Truck Route and N.M. 502 heading east. Traffic was back to normal about 5:30 p.m
Roark said, “These things are extremely rare and I can not remember the last time there was a bomb threat. We have a protocol and we followed it.”
