    Eastern Area 2 Concrete, Paving
    and Utility Project – Phase 1
    Canyon Road between East Road (N.M. 502) and the Myrtle Green continues to be closed to through traffic. Residential access to this area will be maintained; however, residents who park on Canyon Road are asked to park off-street or on a nearby side street. Residents can expect flagging operations on Canyon Road during the day time, and two-way traffic at night. Pedestrians must use the provided detours. All through traffic must seek alternate routes.

    Tour de LA is today

    The 40th annual Tour de Los Alamos is set for this morning.
    Registration for the Tour de Los Alamos, a cycling race which winds around Los Alamos County, is currently open online. men’s women’s junior’s and citizen’s race categories are offered. In-person registration is scheduled for Saturday at Los Alamos National Bank.
    In-person registration may be done at 6:30 a.m near Ruby K’s Racing starts at 8 a.m.

  • Club sale is today

    The Los Alamos Junior Golf Association’s annual club sale is slated for today at Los Alamos Golf Course.
    The club sale runs in conjunction with LAGC’s Father’s Day tournament. The sale will start at 8 a.m. and run through 4 p.m.
    Proceeds from the annual sale will go to support the Los Alamos Hilltopper golf teams and county youth golfing programs.
    Full and partial sets will be available for purchase  at today’s sale.

  • Raw Video: 1 Dead in Toronto Stage Collapse

    A massive stage collapse hours before a Radiohead concert was to begin in Toronto Saturday left one person dead and three others injured, officials said. The venue said on its website that the concert has been canceled.

  • KRSN gets NMBA award

    David and Gillian Sutton, owners of KRSN AM 1490, took home the Broadcaster of the Year 2012 awaRoad from the New Mexico Broadcasters Association during the convention last weekend. It is given annually to someone who has done an outstanding job in the broadcasting industry during the preceding year.
    The Suttons received the awaRoad for their continuous coverage of the Las Conchas fire.

  • Business community to weigh in on economic development

    At this Tuesday's work session, Economic Vitality Administrator Greg Fisher presents council with a range of options for economic development.  Although no action will be taken, staff will look to council for guidance on where to focus the county's limited resources.

    As part of his preparation, Fisher presented his preliminary report to the county's Economic Vitality Action Team (EVAT) for feedback. EVAT advises the county administrator on implementation of the Economic Vitality Strategic Plan (EVSP). The EVAT team met last week, as did the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation's (LACDC) MainStreet Futures committee. Both discussed priorities for council to consider during its deliberations.
