The Los Alamos Police Department is looking for citizens for a variety of tasks, as they seek to expand an existing volunteers program into new police administration areas. The department seeks to call upon citizen volunteers to help with daily non-emergency response tasks in order to allow police officers more time in the field, concentrating on police enforcement and pro-active community outreach programs or services.
LAPD is seeking volunteers to assist in three areas: fingerprinting services; data entry; and food preparation in the detention center’s kitchen for three meals a day.
 In anticipation of limited budgets, LAPD is considering other ways that volunteers could assist on a more regularly scheduled and daily basis. This is more efficient than training and using the services of inmates who may be eligible for work-program status, because most inmate incarcerations at the detention center are short-term.
Those citizens wishing to apply as a volunteer at LAPD for any or all three of these areas are invited to attend an informational meeting from 5:30-6:30 p.m. March 18 at the police department.

Rowena MacDonald, 46, a woman wanted on numerous charges for methamphetamine dealing and manufacturing in St Louis County, Mo., was picked up by law enforcement at noon Thursday, the Los Alamos Police Department said Friday.

MacDonald was detained on warrants out of Missouri, according to LAPD Cmdr. Randy Foster.

The warrants were issued in connection with her alleged activities dealing meth in Missouri.

The original charges were possession of a controlled substance, distributing a controlled substance after admitting to using meth and allowing others to manufacture the drug at her home, according to authorities. Court documents, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, said that MacDonald allowed others to cook and make meth at her Missouri home. The newspaper also reported that between 2010 and 2012, MacDonald bought pseudoephedrine 25 times in St. Louis County.

“Los Alamos contacted us,” St. Louis County Police spokesman George Vaughn said. “And we have her on our wanted list. We are going to send our fugitive team out to get her and bring her back.”

Foster said MacDonald was picked up by Sgt. Chris Valdez from New Mexico State Police around noon Thursday and taken to the Los Alamos Detention Center, where she was to be picked up by Missouri authorities.

A Los Alamos teen is receiving some unwanted attention after a video of him pointing a gun at another teen recently surfaced online.

The video was obtained by KOB Eyewitness News 4, and it shows one teen pointing a gun at another teen wearing a red shirt and yelling orders at him.

There are other teens in the room, and they too are yelling at the teen in the red shirt, who appears to be scared. KOB also reported that the teen in the red shirt is autistic.

The alleged victim’s mother notified police Jan. 16 that she saw the video on the social media site Facebook and was very concerned.

The video apparently took place in the bedroom of a home and it showed the teen with the gun telling the alleged victim to bend down and kiss his feet.

“Watch him, get on your knees and kiss my shoes,” said the teen with the gun.

The other teens then joined in.

“Oh dude, you better kiss his shoe, dude,” one teen said.

The alleged victim told police he did not notify police right away about what happened because he was “scared and embarrassed about what happened.”

Police tracked down the offender at Los Alamos High School and charged the 15-year-old with aggravated assault and conspiracy.

George M Hrbek, 21, of Los Alamos was cited by police for driving through a red light at the intersection of Diamond Drive and Canyon Road Monday. His car reportedly hit another car turning left onto Diamond from Canyon. There were no injuries, but medics from the Los Alamos Fire Department checked both drivers just to be sure.
