Los Alamos National Laboratory employee and Nambé resident Carl Trujillo beat out Santa Fe mayor David Coss in the Democratic primary election earlier this month. The contenders were vying to fill House District 46 seat left vacant by Speaker of the House Ben Lujan
Trujillo, 45, will take a seat in the legislature next year as no GOP candidate ran in the primary. Trujillo won the June 5 primary by 206 votes.
But this wasn’t Trujillo’s first stab at public office: In 2008, Trujillo nearly beat Lujan in the primary but lost by 84 votes.
The 27-year lab employee said he’s been living in the Rio Grande Valley his entire life.
