Time is running out for the Los Alamos County Council to decide on a design concept for the Tewa Loop to Knecht Street section of the N.M. 502/Trinity Drive corridor, which is slated to receive $3.8 million in state funds for construction in FY14.
Council has allocated $1,125,000 in the FY12 budget for 25 percent matching funds.
On Tuesday night, staff will present five designs for council’s consideration. Once a design concept is chosen, there will be discussions with the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) regarding any additional costs for redesign and a new Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). An EIS was conducted for a 2007 NMDOT design option, but that study is now outdated and would have to be redone regardless.
