It promises to be a big weekend of sports for Los Alamos High School.
Headlining the weekend will be a couple of soccer games as perennial power St. Pius X comes to town.
The girls game is at 4 p.m. and the boys follow at 6 p.m. at Sullivan Field.
The Los Alamos girls team comes into the game with a 3-0 record after drilling Moriarty 10-0. In three games, the LA girls have scored 19 goals.
The boys are coming off just their second Cernicek tournament championship since 2004. In the title game against Farmington last week, the Hilltoppers came away with a 2-1 victory.
“We have great spots of passing,” Hilltopper coach Evan Gartz said after Saturday’s game. “We need to make those turn into more minutes of great passing. If we improve that, we’ll be special.”
The Los Alamos volleyball team also is back in action as it takes part in the Moriarty tournament. The Lady Toppers lost a tough four-set match to St. Pius X on Tuesday.
St. Pius X came back on Thursday to end Pojoaque’s 37-game win streak.
And Pojoaque will make a visit to Los Alamos on Tuesday.
