  • Smith’s, LA residents aid hospital

When Smith’s Food and Drug decided to extend its fundraising activities into New Mexico this year, the retailer chose the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital Pediatric Charity Care Fund as its recipient. The fund helps families with modest incomes that do not qualify for other assistance programs.

“Often the families of children who need care are hesitant to bring their children in, worrying that they cannot afford the services. It is so important for those children to get the medical care they need as early as possible, and the generous gift from Smith’s will go a long way in establishing a fund for those most in need,” said Steve McKernan, CEO of University Hospitals at the check presentation.
