Los Alamos teens now have a place to call their own.
Last year, a young person was quoted as saying, the only places to hang out late at night were Smith’s Food and Drug and Sonic; not exactly ideal haunts for a teenager.
The Los Alamos Family YMCA, along with Los Alamos County, is changing things for local teens with the recent opening of a Teen Center.
Now that hang-out spot is being presented to the community during an open house, which will start at 12:30 p.m. next Thursday at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church.
The event will feature tours of the center, opportunities to meet with the staff, henna drawings and a barbecue lunch. There is no fee to attend the event.
