A private resident has added $500 to the $500 reward offered by Crime Stoppers and the Los Alamos Police Department. The $1,000 reward will be paid for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons who caused criminal damage in a June 3 flooding incident at 800 Trinity Drive. Dr. Aparimita Lahiri is often seen walking around town with her 12-year-old son Soumyo Lahiri-Gupta by her side. Whether entering Los Alamos Medical Center to admit a patient or her private practice in Central Park Square, they make a delightful pair.

“Sometimes my patients want to meet Soumyo, so I let him come in and say hi because it brightens their day,” Lahiri said. “But most of the time he’s in the lobby area or in the nurse’s station.”

Adam Shipman filed a tort claim notice with the Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office Monday for damage he says was caused to his home at 2399-B 37th Street during phase II of the Diamond Drive Project. A tort claim is a federal or state act which, under certain conditions, waives governmental immunity and allows lawsuits by people who claim they have been harmed by wrongful acts including negligence, by government agencies or their employees.

Patton – Almeda Inez Gibson Patton, 68, died Wednesday, June 10, 2008. Her home was in Durant, Okla. She was born in Lakeview, Texas, Jan. 10, 1940, to Phillip Musgrove & Inez (Messer) Gibson, now deceased. She married Donald DeWayne Patton Dec. 20, 1958. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Patton enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading and Bible study. Almeda worked for Jafra Sales as a representative, and as an election official. She was a member of the Dudes and Dolls Square Dance Club and Texoma Squares.
