Former Los Alamos police officer Brian Schamber and Los Alamos County have settled for $600,000 in an agreement that was released Wednesday afternoon.
“It’s a very appropriate way to resolve the claim,” Schamber’s attorney John Day said. “Brian can start a new life. There are a lot of extremely smart people in Los Alamos and there are people in the county and police department that made stupid decisions in this case.”
Day said Schamber will resign his post at LAPD. And Day said that Schamber and his family will move away from Los Alamos to an undisclosed location and begin his new career outside of law enforcement.
