  • Ex-NM teacher pleads guilty to sex with student

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A former Albuquerque middle school teacher has pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old student in 2009.

    The Bernalillo County District Attorney's Office says Kristy Sanchez-Trujillo entered a plea agreement Friday.

    She pleaded guilty to one count of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, two counts of criminal sexual contact and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

    KOB-TV says Sanchez-Trujillo's sentencing is scheduled for June 29.

  • Court nixes fee reduction in public records case

    SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A district judge wrongly slashed the attorney fees for a New Mexico newspaper that prevailed in a lawsuit to force the release of public records, the state Court of Appeals has ruled in a case involving one the state's key open government laws.

    The court ordered Rio Arriba County District Judge Sheri Raphaelson to recalculate the fees for attorneys and other costs incurred by the Rio Grande Sun and one its reporters, who sued the Jemez Mountain School District in 1999 to force the release of records related to embezzlement at the Jemez Mountain Public School District.

  • Local Courts: On The Docket 04-25-12

    April 16

    Brett Chandler, 44, of Los Alamos, pleaded not guilty in Los Alamos Municipal Court to having an expired license while parked. Judge Alan Kirk dismissed the case because the police officer failed to appear.

    Michael Hall, 50, of Los Alamos, pleaded not guilty in municipal court to speeding 11 to 15 mph over the speed limit. The case was dismissed because the police officer did not appear in court.

    Gerald Heck, 33, of Los Alamos, pleaded not guilty in municipal court to speeding 11 to 15 mph over the speed limit. The case was dismissed because the office failed to show up. Heck also pleaded guilty to failing to appear in court, for which Judge Kirk ordered him to pay $71 in court fees and fines.

    April 9

    Ammon Nofchissey, 31, Santa Fe, pleaded no contest in Los Alamos Municipal Court to driving on a suspended license, two counts of contempt of court and one count of failure to appear. Judge Alan Kirk found Nofchissey guilty on all of the charges and ordered him to pay a $227 fine and $250 in court fees.

    Chris Keen, 38, Los Alamos, pleaded guilty in Municipal Court to having an expired license plate while parked and to failure to pay court ordered fees and fines. Kirk ordered Keen to pay $121 in fines and court fees.

    Frank Gac, 61, Los Alamos, pleaded guilty in Los Alamos Municipal Court to having an expired license plate on his vehicle while parked. Judge Alan Kirk ordered Gac to pay a $25 fine.

    Thomas Dexter Blake, Santa Fe, pleaded guilty in Los Alamos Magistrate Court to careless driving. Blake was initially charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain traffic lane, and not having a license, but the charges were dismissed and amended as part of a plea agreement. Judge Pat Casados ordered Blake to 90 days of unsupervised probation, community service and to pay $81 in court fees.

    Lucas Bigham, 31, Lakewood, Colo., pleaded guilty to speeding 16-20 mph over the limit in Los Alamos Municipal Court.  Judge Alan Kirk ordered him to pay $100 fine and a $46 court fee.

    Selly Veng, 24, Los Alamos, pleaded guilty in Municipal Court for failure to obey signal. She ran a red light. Kirk ordered her to pay a $50 fine and $46 court fee.

  • On The Docket 03-28-12

    March 19

    Yvonne Woods, 55, Rio Rancho pleaded no contest in Los Alamos Municipal Court to speeding 53 mph in a 35 mph speed zone. Judge Alan Kirk found Woods guilty and her sentence was deferred for 60 days, pending that she doesn’t received any additional citations as part of a probationary period. She was ordered to pay a court fee of $46.

    Nadiga Balasubramanya, 56, Los Alamos, pleaded guilty in Municipal Court to following too closely, not providing vehicle registration on demand and speeding 16-20 mph over the speed limit. Kirk sentenced her to enroll in defensive driving school and pay a $263 fine, which included court fees.

    March 13

    Derrick Jameson, Los Alamos, pleaded no contest in Los Alamos Magistrate Court to battery. Judge Pat Casados found Jameson guilty and ordered him to pay a $73 fee and to six months unsupervised probation.

    Clinton Green, Chama, pleaded guilty in Magistrate Court to use or possession of drug paraphernalia and no contest to resisting, evading or obstructing an officer. Casados found Green guilty on both charges and ordered him to pay  $351 in fees and fines.

    Tammy Fredenburg, 39, Los Alamos, pleaded guilty in Los Alamos Municipal Court to having an expired license plate while parked. Judge Alan Kirk ordered Fredenburg to pa a $50 fine.

    Angelo Herrera, 29, Santa Fe, pleaded no contest in Municipal Court for parking in a prohibited area. Judge Alan Kirk found him guilty of that offense and a subsequent offense of failure to pay. He was ordered to pay a $96 fine.

    Timothy McCurdy, 52, Española, pleaded guilty in Municipal Court to casual sales of a motor vehicle. Judge Kirk ordered him to pay a $50 fine.

  • On The Docket 03-07-12

    Feb. 28

    Joe Tubb, Los Alamos, pleaded no contest to DWI and not guilty to failure to maintain traffic lane in Los Alamos Magistrate Court. Judge Pat Casados found Tubb guilty of DWI; the prosecution dismissed the other charge. The initial charge against Tubb was aggravated DWI for failure to comply with chemical testing. Tubb was ordered to install an ignition interlock device, serve supervised probation for 364 days and pay a $241 fine.

    Logan Hayden, Los Alamos, pleaded not guilty disorderly conduct in Magistrate Court. Judge Casados found the defendant guilty. Hayden was initially charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Casados ordered him to 180 days supervised probation and a $73 fine.
