The aerial displays go off at last year’s fireworks show. The Kiwanis Independence Day celebration will return July 4 to Overlook Park. Shuttles will also be running to and from Overlook starting at 4 p.m. that day.
Kiwanis hosts fireworks show at Overlook Park

Once again, the Kiwanis Club will host its annual fireworks show for Independence Day.
As has been the case for many years, the Kiwanis will have its show at Overlook Park. The day’s events at Overlook Park will begin at 2 p.m.
On the July 4 schedule are performances by Eddy & The Nomads, the Los Alamos Community Winds, bouncy houses provided by Ton-O-Fun and, the highlight of the night, the fireworks, which start at approximately 9:15 p.m.
There are always food and other vendors on-hand to sell spectators whatever they need for the day.
The event is co-sponsored by Los Alamos County and Los Alamos National Bank. A donation is requested at the entrance to Overlook Park by the Kiwanis.
Beyond the show, Independence Day is a busy day around Los Alamos County.
To start the day, the Family YMCA of Los Alamos will have its annual Firecracker 5K event.
Registration for the community 5K is open through race day at the YMCA — organizers can be contacted by calling 662-3100. The race will start at 8 a.m.
Upwards of 200 people have taken part in the race. Prizes go to the top male and female finishers in several age categories, as well as prizes for the top human-dog finishers and even a best costume contest.
Mid-morning, there will be the annual Children’s Parade in White Rock.
