Thoma invited to combine

Former Los Alamos Hilltopper standout soccer player Andy Thoma has been invited to participate in the 2015 Major League Soccer combine.
The MLS, the top professional soccer league in the country, will hold its combine Jan. 9-13 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The country’s top collegiate soccer talent will have the opportunity to make an impression in front of representatives from all 20 MLS clubs ahead of the 2015 SuperDraft, which is held for top college talent in the country.
Thoma was the Class 4A Player of the Year in 2010 following the Hilltoppers’ state championship, their first since the mid-1980s.
Following his career at Los Alamos, he played at the collegiate level, eventually transferring to the University of Washington, where he earned several honors from the Pac-12 conference, playing both at the wing and in the defensive third.
He was named a second team All-Pac 12 performer and third-team All-American following the 2014 season.
The Huskies advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament last season.
The MLS played its first season in 1996. The league will start its regular season in March.
