  • The League of Women Voters will have Steve Watts as its speaker for the monthly Lunch with a Leader from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Jan. 11 at Central Avenue Grill. There is a menu at the grill, which includes entree, iced tea, water, or lemonade, tax and gratuity for $15.

  • Los Alamos High School will participate in the American Mathematics Competition on Feb. 8. The mission of the Mathematical Association of America in offering this competition is to increase interest in mathematics and to develop problem solving through a fun competition.  Teachers and schools benefit from the chance to challenge students with interesting mathematical questions that are aligned with curriculum standards at all levels of difficulty.

  • I hope as you look back on 2010, you were proud of the time you spent supporting the youth of the community as they grow each day.
    While your interaction with children may not be plentiful, hopefully any opportunity was used to build assets.
    Our work in the community does not come to an end as we approach the end of the calendar year, but begins anew with endless opportunities to build relationships with the future of our country.
