    Noelle Stillman of San Clemente, CA, married Captain Joseph Salucci, United States Marine Corps, in an outdoor ceremony at the Hyatt Regency in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, on July 9, 2010.  .
    The bride is the daughter of Danny and Ruth Stillman of Los Alamos.  Parents of the bridegroom are Michael Salucci of San Luis Obispo, CA, and Patty Salucci, also of San Luis Obispo.

  • Autumn signals the end of the growing season, leaving gardeners with mixed feelings; no more pests or weeds, but it is sad when the first frost zaps the tender plants.
    Some autumn duties gardeners share include:
    • Pull used leaves off shrubs
    • Plant spring flowering bulbs
    • Divide perennials
    • Fertilize cool season grasses
    • Cut back on watering at the end of September
    • Renew mulch on perennial beds
    • Cut out canes on raspberry plants that bore fruit this season

  • LOS ANGELES (AP) — Pop singer Eddie Fisher gained fame crooning love songs like "I'm Yours" and "Thinking of You" to teenage girls in the early 1950s. But his life was overshadowed by drug use, gambling and failed marriages to actresses Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor.

    Fisher passed away Wednesday night at his home in Berkeley of complications from hip surgery, his daughter, Tricia Leigh Fisher of Los Angeles, told The Associated Press. He was 82.

  • Self Help, Inc., a United Way Agency, has become a certified Medicaid On-Site Application Assistance (MOSAA) provider — the only certified provider in Los Alamos County.
    Previously, those applying for Medicaid coverage had to drive to the Human Services office in Española or await a representative to come into Los Alamos, now there is the option to stay in town and make an appointment with Self Help to complete the application.
