  • During spring break, the United Church of Los Alamos sent a team of builders to Juaréz, Mexico to build homes for the less fortunate. “The trip went great! Better than could be expected,” Pastor Keith Lewis said. “Each year is a great year but 2012 was especially amazing. The freshmen and other newcomers stepped up and helped accomplish our work goals quickly, the group as a whole was fun to be with and our families were gracious as always.” Lewis likes to point out to the youth that when they arrived on Monday, the family had no home, but by the end of the week, they had a new home because of their efforts.

  • Why is Eastern Orthodox Christian “Easter” THIS Sunday? - JBA

Actually, Orthodox Easter was last Sunday. In the last article, we mentioned how the feast of Pascha lasts the entire week following Easter Sunday. To be more precise, it is as if the midnight service continues without breaking until the next Sunday.
We call this week after Pascha “Bright Week” because all is filled with the light of the Resurrection. Following Bright Week a shift occurs and we remain in the feast for another 33 days. That is until the Feast of the Ascension.
