  • Fashion Maven: Jewelry can be a girl’s best friend

Have you ever had one of those mornings where you had an outfit all planned out in your head before you went to bed that night, but when you put it on the next morning, it didn’t turn out as fabulous as you thought?
Maybe planning outfits the day before I wear them is just my fashion nerdiness getting to me, but surely you know what I mean. How can you spice up an outfit when it’s bland, you’re in a time crunch, or you just feel lost? The answer, ladies, is jewelry.
It is true that jewelry can make or break an outfit, so it should be added in small, yet significant doses. When many women think of jewelry, they think of necklaces, which are essential to an outfit.

  • LAHS brings students daily news

A new building has been constructed to provide Los Alamos High School students with a better learning environment. And despite the fact that students go about their daily lives, something has been missing on campus, specifically, news targeted to meet the informational needs and interests of teens.
Beginning this week, LAHS students will be able to view a televised news program broadcast by students who bring them news about campus life.
The program is designed to reach students with current news and stories that make a difference and impact their daily lives. The 10- to 15-minute program will not only share news, but will also voice the opinions of various students around campus.

  • Korn adapts to a changing world

Despite the fact that Korn is considered Nu-metal, they have been rocking the minds of heavy metal fans with new sound, just shy of 20 years.
During those years, Korn has always been known as an innovative, edgy band. 2011 proved to be no different for the Berkeley, Calif. band.
“The Path Of Totality” was released on Dec. 2, 2011. Fans that have followed Korn since the 90s, may have a hard time following the band on this album, as it breaks away from the classic heavy bass and guitar sound to adopt dub-step beats.
With collaborations of big name dubstep artists such as Skrillex, Noisia and Kill The Noise, “The Path” boasted high chart-topping singles.

  • Political watch 2012

After reviewing the events of 2011, I feel the New Year should follow a few patterns.
First, President Barack Obama will most likely be reelected. None of the Republican candidates seem to stand much of a chance. Herman Cain’s standing was absolutely decimated by the sexual harassment claims.
Rick Perry completely fell apart multiple times during the debates, which will hurt his credibility. None of the other candidates seem to be getting much public attention. With the announcement of the withdrawal from Iraq being so perfectly timed, Obama will probably return to office.
Whether this is good or bad for America is up to the historians of the future to decide.

  • You have the basics, now use them

I like to start off the New Year correctly where fashion is concerned. Sure, you may now know how to find pieces that fit right, but can you make them into an outfit that will look chic? It’s all about using the right colors on the right clothes, in just the right places.
When I say colors, you’re probably thinking, “Ooh, matching time!” Yes, it involves matching, but not quite.
Matching does not mean wearing flats with a cardigan, earrings and a necklace all in the same forest green. Let’s not turn ourselves into walking trees, okay?

  • Poetry corner

    “Oh what a life,
    the life of a teen.
    You’re too young and too
     ignorant
    to know anything.
    You can’t possibly know what
    love is.
You don’t know how it feels.
    Your dreams are too big.
You don’t know what is real.”
But I see all the problems.
    I realize life’s hard.
    I love him to death
    and can’t see us apart.
    My dreams may be big
but I’ll shoot for the stars
    and I’ll always have hope
    and strive to go far.
    “You act without thought,
    don’t consider consequence,
    doing things that seem
    stupid.
    You lack common sense.
