  • Fashion Maven: Cool Wool

    I   don’t know many knitters, but the few I do know  are experienced and every time I see or wear some of their work, I am inspired.
    Knitting is an enormous part of fashion — always changing, yet defined by the artist’s inspiration and personal touch.
    Knitwear is so vast that I can only touch on a few ideas, but the point is to get all of you to understand that knitwear is for anyone and everyone and is not limited to a certain type of person.
    First on the list, of course, are the sweaters. When you think of the word sweater, some of you might visualize something that resembles the word frumpy.
    If this applies to you, I demand that you erase the idea from your mind, unless you are thinking of a Christmas sweater.

  • 'War Horse’ comes to the silver screen

    On Christmas day, director Steven Spielberg gave families a gift, when he brought a children’s book to the silver screen. Originally published in 1982, Spielberg presents his adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s “War Horse.”
    The book-turned-movie transports the audience to a time long since passed. Set during World War I, the film starts out in the Devon, England countryside where a farmer, Ted Narracott, (Peter Mullan) purchases a young thoroughbred horse at auction, instead of the plow horse he's supposed to purchase.

  • Ask Alex: Snakes’ mystery revealed

    Editor’s note: In an effort to answer questions that have nagged mankind for eons, Teen Pulse staffer, Alexander Castillo has volunteered to proffer up some answers.

    After spending some time on the Google and the Yahoos while at the same time Binging this question to heck, I have discovered the answer. Would you like to know the answer? Of course you would. This is a question God barely knows the answer to.
    He told the snakes to be, and they were. They had to figure out how drain their bodily fluids all on their own. Needless to say, these snakes were hesitant to divulge their methods of waste expulsion. This only makes sense though. No one likes to be questioned about their bathroom habits.

  • Choosing a college can be tough

    In recent years, the college application process has become more competitive. According to a Jan. 13 New York Times article, the 2011/2012 application year has seen a change in early action trends.
    “Early admission to top colleges, once the almost exclusive preserve of the East Coast elite, is now being pursued by a much broader and more diverse group of students, including foreigners and minorities.”
    This is frightening news for Los Alamos residents, who live in a town that has a high concentration of college-educated residents. As such, their children tend to set very high standards for themselves and do many things in order to achieve their college dreams.
