  • Stressing over social media

In today’s society, social media is everywhere. From texting to Facebook to Twitter, social media plays a huge part in most people’s lives, especially the lives of teenagers.

In September 2012, the Pew Research Center conducted a study that reported 95 percent of teens aged 12 to 17 are now online and 81 percent of those teens use some kind of social media.

Although many teenagers may enjoy using social media to keep in touch with their friends, the social media apps that facilitate this can also cause stress.

  • ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ is thoroughly entertaining

The house lights dim, signaling the official beginning of the Los Alamos High School musical production of “Thoroughly Modern Millie.”

The LAHS Olions Thespian Club presented the production at Duane Smith Auditorium May 1-4.

“Thoroughly Modern Millie” told the story of young Millie Dillmount (Camille Rousculp) who has arrived in 1920s New York City abound with the aspiration to live an independent life.

In an attempt to pursue the identity of the reinvented modern woman, Millie chops her hair short and replaces her floral frocks with skirts that rise above the knee.

For years I have been wishing for a new clothing store to open its doors in Los Alamos.

Finally, my days of silent pleading and finger-crossing have come to an end.
That’s right, a new clothing store isn’t just coming to Los Alamos; it’s driving here.

Santa Fe native and fashion industry savante Colette Rodriguez is bringing her brand new mobile boutique, called the Desert Willow Boutique, to our town. It will be Northern New Mexico’s first fashion-on-wheels retail shop.

Desert Willow, is a full service Mobile Boutique catering to the customer who is searching for unique quality fashion, sophistication and a convenient location.
