“Look! It’s those Mormon Elders again!” That’s probably the most commonly spoken phrase as residents see them coming down the street toward their front door. Or maybe they’ve been seen pedaling through town on their bicycles, in their dark suits and black name tags.
“Mormons” is a nickname given to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mormons have a firm belief in Jesus Christ as the savior of the world.
They believe the Bible to be the word of God, recorded by his prophets. Because they also believe in the Book of Mormon, which is named after an ancient American prophet-leader and is another testament of Jesus Christ, they are sometimes called Mormons.

“God became man that man might become (like) God,” said St. Athanasius the Great about God’s purpose for man. “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Pet 1:4-5.

Neighbors and friends of White Rock Presbyterian Church are invited to join with members to celebrate Valentine’s Day and enjoy a chalupa supper, during which the new interim pastor, Rev. Dr. Harry Cole, will be introduced.
Cole began his interim ministry with WRPC on Nov. 27 after serving as an interim pastor in about 10 other congregations around the nation. Most recently, Cole was interim pastor at Westminster Church of Roswell.
St. Valentine’s Day is a traditional occasion honoring sweethearts, married couples and all who celebrate the love of Christian fellowship.
Marriage is a sacrament of the church and love is a passion of the heart, the symbol of St. Valentine’s Day.
What does Paul mean when he says “pray without ceasing?” and how do you do it in this world? — E.B.
Paul means we are called to pray ceaselessly. This may seem unreasonable to some but it is nevertheless what we are called to do. Christ calls us to love God with all our soul, all our heart, all our mind and all our strength.
This implies relationship and personal communication. Prayer is simply ongoing relationship with God, communion with him.
If we love God with all our being, we will necessarily strive to pray without ceasing. In other words, to relate to him ceaselessly.
Note the word “striving.” We do not end up there all at once.
