  • Family: Hillary Clinton's mother dies at 92

    WASHINGTON (AP) — Dorothy Rodham, mother of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and former President Bill Clinton's mother-in-law, died Tuesday at age 92 after an illness.

    The family said Rodham died shortly after midnight, surrounded by her family in Washington.

    The secretary of state cancelled a planned trip to London and Istanbul to be at her mother's side.

    Dorothy Rodham was a witness to her daughter's political victories and defeats. She avoided the spotlight and rarely gave interviews about herself or her daughter and son-in-law, the former president.

  • Katie Stroud and Matt Majarian

    Mary Ann and Phil Stroud of Los Alamos are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Katie to Matt Majarian, son of Will and Lynn Majarian of Kennett Square, Pa. The couple was united in marriage on Aug. 6, 2011.
    The ceremony was presided over by Fr. John Carney at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  The reception was celebrated at Hyde Park Lodge following the ceremony.  
    The bride chose her friend, Marielle Remillard, as her maid of honor and her sisters Sophia Stroud and Gina Stroud and friend Lauren Jarocha, as bridesmaids.
    The groom chose his friend Ted Chelis, as his best man and his brothers Jeff Majarian and Tim Majarian and brother-in-law David Stroud as his groomsmen.

  • Pirtle-Bowyer Engagement

    Mr. and Mrs. Clint Bowyer are please to announce the engagement of their son, Justin Bowyer, to Lindsey Pirtle. Lindsey is the daughter of Dr. Scott Pirtle and Heidi Pirtle of Las Cruces. Justin is a graduate of Los Alamos High School and a New Mexico State University graduate with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering. Justin is currently employed at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Lindsey is a graduate of Las Cruces High School and received her bachelor’s degree in merchandising and marketing from New Mexico State University. Lindsey is currently employed at Los Alamos High School. The couple plan to wed in September 2012 in Las Cruces.

  • Heflin-Pan Wedding

    Lara Heflin, PhD and David Pan, PhD were married on May 28, 2011 at Hacienda Dona Andrea in Cerrillos.
    The bride is the daughter of Harry Heflin of Duarte, Calif. and Dawn Allard of San Diego, Calif.
    The groom is the son of Paul and Jasmine Pan of White Rock.
    The maid of honor was Tanya Rice of San Diego, Calif., sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Ashley Borders, Sindy Oh-Liverant and Jessica Brommelhoff, graduate school friends of the bride.
    The best man was Jesse Lorenz of Phoenix, Ariz., college friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Kent Sabo, John Bilderbeck and Jose Bilderbeck, college friends of the groom.

    The New Mexico Restaurant Association held its Annual Membership Meeting and has installed the 2011-2012 slate of Board of Directors for the association.
    Several restaurateurs from the Santa Fe area will continue to serve on the board of directors for 2011-2012.
    These include Al Lucero (Maria’s NewMexican Kitchen) and Fernando Olea (Bert’s Burger Bowl/Bert’s La Taqueria).
    There are also several directors from Northern New Mexico who will  also be on the 2011-2012 board. These include Florence Jaramillo from Rancho de Chimayó (Chimayó) and Joan Duran from De Colores (Los Alamos). Bert Clemens from Laguna Vista Lodge, Historic Restaurant and Saloon in Eagle Nest was elected as chairman of the board for 2011-2012.

  • Dolores Hope, wife of Bob Hope, dies at 102

    LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dolores Hope, who was married to entertainer Bob Hope for 69 years and sang at his shows, has died at age 102.

    Hope family spokesman Harlan Boll says Hope died Monday at home in Los Angeles. A specific cause of death was not available.

    The death was first reported by Entertainment Tonight.

    Bob Hope died in 2003 at age 100.

    Dolores Reade was a nightclub singer before she married Bob Hope in 1934. She mostly stayed home with their children before Hope began his Christmas trips to entertain U.S. troops during World War II.

    She sang for U.S. troops and on his television specials.

  • Brady-Fulton Wedding

    Christina Brady, daughter of Dr. William and Yoshiko Brady of Santa Fe, and Zachary Fulton, son of Robert and Kathy Fulton of Los Alamos and Jeffrey and Karen Lawrence of Santa Fe, exchanged wedding vows on the 3rd of September, 2011 at La Posada de Santa Fe, with Reverend William Dorman’s Officiating. A reception honoring the couple followed in Montana Ballroom. Christina graduated from the University of California in San Diego and Zach from the University of California in Santa Cruz.  Currently they are both medical students at the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine, in Albuquerque. They share their love for spending time with family and friends, skiing, traveling, and volunteering.

  • Rupprecht-Stupka Wedding

    Erika Maia Rupprecht, daughter of Ward and Katrina of White Rock and Jacob R. Stupka, son of Richard Stupka and Kay Joseph of White Rock, exchanged wedding vows on May 28, 2011 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Los Alamos.  Rev. Carney officiated the mass and Deacon Alcouffe assisted.  A reception honoring the couple was at Delancey Street in San Juan.
    Erika’s bridal attendants were: Sandra Moore, sister of the bride and matron of honor; Erin Pearcy, Alayna Rodriguez and Danielle Lattin. The flower girls were Abigail Gonzales and Kayden Bowyer.  The groomsmen included Jeffery Peterson, friend of the groom and best man; Dylan Stupka, Stuart Rupprecht and Mike Selwyn. The ring bearer was Thomas Wharton.
