    Los Alamos Medical Center reported the following births:

    Feb. 29: A boy, Riley Bernard Abney, born to Nicole Allison and Tyrell Abney
    March 3: A girl, Lily Christina Grace Nolen, born to Jacqueline and Blake Nolen
    March 5: A girl, Lisa Shaelyn Suazo, born to Channa Romeo and Shaun Suazo (siblings Jasmin and Shaun Jr.)
    March 7: A boy, Dylan Ryan Thomas Ortiz, born to Adrianna and Nathan Ortiz

  • People in the News 03-25-12

    John Fox, a Los Alamos High School graduate, has received his bachelor’s degree in mineral engineering from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
    He accepted a consultant position with Katanga Mining, Ltd. in Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Fox is the son of Doug and Linda Fox.

    Jules Carson, of Los Alamos, earned a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering technology from Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y.
    Excelsior College is an accredited, private, nonprofit institution that focuses on the needs of working adults.
    Its primary mission is to increase access to a college degree for adult learners by removing obstacles to their educational goals.

  • Wedding: Brewer-McClure

    Carla Brewer and Lynn Brewer of  Los Alamos are happy to announce the marriage of their son Travis Brewer to Megan McClure, daughter of Patrick and Jana McClure of Los Alamos.
    Travis and Megan Brewer were married on Jan. 1, 2012 at the Christian Church in Los Alamos.
    Both Travis and Megan are residing in Murfeesboro, Tenn., attending Middle Tennesse State Univerity.

  • People in the News 03-04-12

    More than 4,400 undergraduate students at the University of Kansas earned honor roll distinction for the fall 2011 semester, including Maslyn Kate Locke, of Los Alamos. She is a junior majoring in behavioral neuroscience. She made the honor roll for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
    The honor roll comprises undergraduates who meet requirements in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and in the schools of allied health, architecture, design and planning, business, education, engineering, journalism, music, nursing, pharmacy and social welfare.

  • Anniversary: Mary Lou and Don Keigher

    Don and Mary Lou Keigher are celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary on March 2 at their home in Aspen Ridge Lodge, where they recently moved. In 2012, they are also celebrated their 40th year living in Los Alamos.
    Don and Mary Lou were married March 2, 1946, in LaJolla, Calif., where Don served in the Navy.  In 1953, their young family moved to Richland,Wash., where Don was a fire protection engineer with the Atomic Energy Commission until 1969.  After three years in Washington, D.C., they moved west again to White Rock.

  • Conservative Activist Andrew Breitbart Dies

    Conservative media publisher and activist Andrew Breitbart has died at the age of 43. Breitbart's website bigjournalism.com announced Thursday he died of natural causes in Los Angeles.

  • Davy Jones, 1945-2012

    Actor and musician Davy Jones died Wednesday of a heart attack in Florida. Best known as a teen idol from the band and TV show The Monkees in the 1960's, Jones also appeared on various British and American TV shows throughout the years.

    Feb. 7: A girl, Aislin Cadence O’Connell, born to Leann Redmon and William O’Connell
    Feb. 8: A girl, Ave Jo Montoya, born to Naomi Louise and Juan Lorenzo Montoya, Jr
    Feb. 9: A boy, Satwik Kundu, born to Srabanti Chaudhury and Janardan Kundu

    Adam Nekimken, a resident of Los Alamos has earned placement on the Gonzaga University president’s list for fall semester 2011. Students must earn a 3.7 to 4.0 grade-point average to be listed.

    Cody Stewart of Los Alamos has been honored at Lipscomb University for academic achievement during the fall 2011 semester. Stewart, a Ravenwood High School graduate and pre-nursing major, has been placed on the provost’s list. Lipscomb University is located in Nashville, Tenn.

  • Engagement: Rodriguez-Jones

    Mr. and Mrs. Terry and Diana Burge of Arroyo Seco announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannan Nicole Rodriguez to Michael Adam Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Joyce Brenner-Jones of Willow Springs, N.C.
    The future bride graduated from the Los Alamos High School class of 1999. She was nurtured in life  by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Salvador and Bertha Rodriguez of White Rock and Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Maureen Roybal of Rio Rancho; La Vista Church of the Nazarene, White Rock; and Truth Ministries Calvary Chapel, Arroyo Seco/ Espanola.
    The future groom was a graduate of the class of 1998 from William Tennent High School in Warminster, Pa. The two met and became friends at Calvary Chapel of Cary, N.C.
