  • Engagement: Reader-Sandoval

    Mr. and Mrs. Garth Reader, of Los Alamos, announce the engagement of their daughter Megan Marie Reader to Anthony Michael Sandoval.
    The bride and groom reside in Albuquerque and are planning a wedding for 4 p.m. Jan. 17 at United Church of Los Alamos.
    The groom’s parents are Mark and Theresa Sandoval of Albuquerque.

  • Engagement: Bonner-McNulty

    Charles and Deirdre Bonner, of Los Alamos are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Elisa Rachelle Bonner to Stephen Douglas McNulty, son of Douglas and Elizabeth McNulty of Chester, New Jersey. The couple met and currently work at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria.
    A September wedding is planned in Angel Fire.

  • Wedding 7-12-15

    Gina Schultz and Mario Velasquez were married on May 23, 2015, in a small ceremony surrounded by close family and friends.
    Gina is the daughter of Bea Leyba, of Santa Fe. Mario is the son of Kathi Spencer-Velasquez, of Albuquerque and Joseph Velasquez, also of Albuquerque.
    The maid of honor was Gina’s cousin, Christie Lopez, of Pueblo, Colorado. The best man was Mario’s longtime friend Rick Lambert, of Taos.
    The bridesmaids were Mario’s sister Angelina Velasquez, of Albuquerque and Gina’s longtime friend Anna Wirtel, of Santa Fe.
    The groomsmen were Mario’s father Joseph and Mario and Gina’s longtime friend, Larry Bishop, of Santa Fe.
    The couple was wed by Bob Pennington in the backyard the bride‘s childhood home. The bride was escorted down the aisle by Bea Leyba and Kathi Spencer-Velasquez.
    Special thanks to Chris Valdez from Chris’ Café for catering such delicious food and to Vitaly Pospelov for providing the music. The bride and groom exchanged rings that belonged to the bride’s grandparents, Josephine and Jesus Lopez.
    Gina is currently the community editor at the Los Alamos Monitor and Mario works in construction. The couple currently resides in Santa Fe and are expecting a baby boy in the fall.

  • People In The News 1-1-15

    Samara Fellows, of Los Alamos, graduated with honors from Eastern New Mexico University on Dec. 13.
    In order to earn honors status, students must receive a 3.5 or higher grade point average.

    Billie Jo Tedder, of Los Alamos, graduated from Troy University during Term 2 of the 2014-15 academic year.
    Tedder received a master’s of science degree in human resource management degree from the Sorrell College of Business.
    Tedder was a student at the University’s Global Campus.
    Term 2 graduates include students at Troy’s campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Alabama and Global Campus, which consists of teaching sites outside of Alabama and online.

    The New Mexico Community Foundation (NMCF) has announced the appointment of Ted Harrison as interim president and CEO, effective Jan. 1. Harrison succeeds Jenny Parks who will be joining the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation as its CEO early next year.
    Harrison has served on the Board of Directors of NMCF since 2010. During the past four years, Harrison has chaired the Foundation’s of the Programs and Grants Committee, as well as served as board secretary.

  • Springfield-Brown Wedding

    Lindsey Dawn Springfield and Timothy Ryan Brown celebrated their marriage on Oct. 25 with family and friends.
    The wedding and reception was at the Hokukano Bayhouse at Keauhou Bay on the big island of Hawaii. “Uncle” Earl Kamakaonaona Regidor officiated the traditional Hawaiian ceremony bayside on a scenic lava rock island.
    The bride is a Los Alamos High School and Northern Arizona University graduate, and is employed by the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. The groom graduated from Capistrano High School, Mission Bay, California, and is employed by the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort.
    After a honeymoon on the Hawaiian islands of Maui and Lanai, the couple will reside in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
    The bride is the daughter of Steve and Ellie Springfield of Los Alamos.

    Matthew J. Leslie, has been selected to attend Undergraduate Pilot Training upon graduation from the United States Air Force Academy. He is currently serving as C/Capt Flight Commander with Cadet Squadron 11, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado. Leslie is the son of Paul and Carolyn Leslie, of Los Alamos, and is a 2011 graduate of Los Alamos High School.
