    D’Souza to speak
    at United Church

     Dinesh D’Souza, author of “What’s So Great About Christianity” will be in Los Alamos March 19 and 20 at the United Church of Los Alamos.
    A forum will be from 10 a.m.-
    2 p.m. March 19 and includes lunch. Registration is $30. D’Souza will also speak after the 9:30 a.m. service on March 20, which is free and open to the public.
    Copies of D’Souza’s book will be available at both events.

A class for beginning bird identification with local expert Dave Yeamans, using lots of photos from his backyard, will be at 7 p.m. at Pajarito Environmental Education Center.     Mexico Mission

    Items are currently being accepted for the Mexico Mission Auction, March 6. The auction will raise funds to build homes during spring break. To donate items call 662-2971. The auction will be March 6 at the United Church. A silent auction will be from 2-3 p.m., with a live auction at 3 p.m. Donations can be made through Feb. 27. The United Church is located at 2525 Canyon Road.

    Help Barranca students

    Students at Barranca Elementary are collecting funds to help fix their basketball court and build a new court. Monetary donations may be made to help fund the project, or bricks may be purchased for $100. Those who purchase bricks may have their names engraved on them.   • LAGS meeting slated for Tuesday

    The next meeting of the Los Alamos Geological Society will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian Church, 92 East Road. The featured speaker will be Dr. Robert Hermes of Los Alamos National Laboratory. His talk is entitled, “Trinitite — The Atomic Rock.”

  • MOWW meeting Tuesday

    The M.G. Franklin E. Miles Chapter 229 of the Military Order of World Wars in Los Alamos announces that Todd Urbatsch of the Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Computational Physics Group will present a talk on Bengt Carlson and his involvement with the supercomputers at LANL and his famous apple wine.

  • La Leche League to meet

    La Leche League of Los Alamos will discuss “Why Breastfeed you Baby?” at their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the Teen Room at the First United Methodist Church, 715 Diamond Dr.
    All interested, pregnant, or breastfeeding women are welcome to learn and share, through mother-to-mother support, the basics and benefits of breastfeeding.
    A lending library with books and audio tapes concerning childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting and nutrition is available. Nursing babies and toddlers who have difficulty separating, are welcome.
