    Art receptions

    “Jemez Beauty,” an art show by Los Alamos native Jeff Potter, will be on display at the Jemez Fine Art Gallery in Jemez Springs Friday through April 7. The gallery is located at 17346 State Highway 4. The artist will be at the gallery for a reception from noon-4 p.m. April 2.  Call 575-829-3340 or visit jeffpotterart.com for more information.

    “Interference,” a show featuring Rita Bard, Jamie Hamilton and Lucrecia Troncoso, will open with a reception from 6-7 p.m. Friday at LAUNCHPROJECTS, 355 E. Palace Ave., Santa Fe. For more information call 670-9857.

    Music
    Lads of Enchantment, a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, invites the public to join them in song.  Besides the enjoyment of singing in harmony, our barbershop chorus and quartets experience the thrill of performing in the community. They meet at 7:15 p.m. on Thursdays at the United Church of Los Alamos, Graves Hall. Attendees will find their chapter meetings are well planned, musically satisfying and fun. Visitors are welcome.
     
    The Los Alamos Community Winds invites all interested musicians to join its upcoming concerts. No audition is necessary, but proficiency on a wind or percussion instrument is required. The LACW rehearses from  7-9 p.m. Tuesdays. www.lacw.org.

    Aspen, Chamisa and Mountain elementaries, along with Los Alamos Middle School, are collecting non-perishable items for people and collars and leashes for pets as a community project and a student service project combine their efforts. To learn more about making donations call 661-4846. Donations are accepted at school locations through Friday. The Los Alamos Monitor, KRSN AM 1490 and the Betty Ehart Senior Center continue the March on Hunger through the end of the month.

    The Los Alamos High School NJROTC will have a brisket dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Posse Shack on North Mesa. The price will be $10 and the menu includes brisket, corn, potato salad, roll, cookies and a drink.

    The Los Alamos Arts Council will begin its 2011 Guitar Concert Series, Guitars at the Lodge, at Fuller Lodge at 7 p.m. Beverage and cookies available at 7 p.m., music begins at 7:15 p.m.  Admission is $15 at the door for non-members, $10 for members.
