  • La Leche League meeting

    La Leche League of Los Alamos will discuss, “Nutrition and Weaning” at their monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Monday in the Nursery at the United Church, 2525 Canyon Road.
     All interested, pregnant, or breastfeeding women are welcome to learn and share, through mother-to-mother support, the basics and benefits of breastfeeding. A lending library with books and audio tapes concerning childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting and nutrition is available. Nursing babies and toddlers who have difficulty separating, are welcome.

    Art openings

    Three exhibitions will open at the Harwood Museum of Art of the University of New Mexico, 238 Ledoux St., Taos. “Oli Sihvonen: The Final Years” will open Sept. 17; “Black Mountain College and “New Mexico” and “Onward” will open Sept. 24.     Music

    Lads of Enchantment, a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, invites the public to join them in song.  Besides the enjoyment of singing in harmony, our barbershop chorus and quartets experience the thrill of performing in the community. They meet at 7:15 p.m. on Thursdays at the United Church of Los Alamos, Graves Hall. Attendees will find their chapter meetings are well planned, musically satisfying and fun. Visitors are welcome.

    Guitars at the Lodge featuring Rick Donovan will be at 7 p.m. at Fuller Lodge. Ticket are $15, or $10 for LAAC members.

    Museum volunteers needed
    Do you like to talk? The Los Alamos Historical Museum is looking for volunteers to greet visitors in the museum and tell them about the great history of our community. No experience required. Training will be provided.
    Docent shifts are weekdays from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1-4:30 p.m. to mid-October; and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1-4 p.m. the rest of the year. For more information, contact the museum offices at 662-6272.
