    The Los Alamos Community Health Council is sponsoring the Leadership Connection Town Hall, an event from 5:30-7 p.m. at Fuller Lodge. The goal of the town hall is to report on key Los Alamos County health issues, trends and recommendations. Community leaders will give short presentations followed by questions and discussion. Local LACHC member agencies will have materials about resources and services in Los Alamos. Light refreshments will be provided. RSVP to deborahfgill@gmail.com by Feb. 25.

    This month the Los Alamos Community of Atheists will discuss the deconversion process. Discuss life after faith, tell your story, hear other people’s experiences. How are you recovering? Eric Renz-Whitmore, executive director of New Mexico Technology Council, will lead a session at The Hive during Thursday’s brown bag lunch.     The LA GOP Central Committee will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in the Acoma Room at the Hilltop House Hotel. All Central Committee members are encouraged to attend. All Republicans welcome.

    It’s Fish Fry time again at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall, from 5-7 p.m. The dinners are sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and proceeds will benefit Nuestros Pequeños Orphanage in Honduras, and other charities. Adult plates are $10 and have two pieces of cod, coleslaw and rice or French fries, plus a drink or dessert. Children may have one piece of fish or a grilled cheese sandwich with all the rest for $7 a plate.

    Art openings

    Zane Bennett Contemporary Art announces an exhibition and paintings by Michael Freitas Wood, titled, “Presentiment.” The exhibit will be up March 29-April 29 at 435 S. Guadalupe St. There will be a reception from 5-7 p.m. March 29.

    Dance

    Twenty-two dancers in costumes combine contemporary and ancient Irish dance forms to produce “Rhythm of Dance,” at 8 p.m. March 2 at Popejoy Hall. Tickets, $20-$49, are available at popejoypresents.com or by calling 877-664-8661.

    Exhibits

    “Amish Quilts” explores the origins and aesthetics of a tradition that has evolved in a changing world. Opening at the Museum of International Folk Art March 3, 34 quilts will be on view from the museum’s collection and from local collectors. The exhibit runs through Sept. 1.

    Festivals

    Join the Jemez Springs community for the annual Fire and Ice Festival at the Village Park in Jemez Springs, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday. Enjoy a professional chainsaw carving exhibit, a chile cook-off and crosscut log sawing competitions. There will also be chicken poop bingo and many other activities.     Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, 3900 Trinity Dr., invites the community to a Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras) pancake supper, from 5:30-7 p.m. There will be beads, masks and Dixieland music. The menu includes ham, pancakes, a variety of syrups, fruit, eggs cooked to order and orange juice. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $4 for children, $8 for adults and $20 for a family. All proceeds benefit the Juaréz house build mission trips, which will take place in the fall.
