    This month’s Juvenile Justice Advisory Board meeting features a panel of counselors who will discuss emerging trends and teen issues they are seeing in their work and how we as a community can address these challenges. The public is welcome to attend. The meeting is scheduled one week earlier than usual, at 6:15 p.m. in Building #1, Pajarito Cliffs Site, Camino Entrada.  For more information, call 661-4097.

    Schola Cantorum of Santa Fe presents “El Niño — the Christ Child,” at 3 p.m. at Fuller Lodge. There will be carols, ancient Gregorian chants, Christmas music of the Renaissance and a taste of Celtic Christmas music.     Art openings

    Artist Ed Samuels will show new paintings at his gallery in Santa Fe from Dec. 16-Jan. 13. The gallery is located at 924 Paseo de Peralta. The opening reception will be from 4-8 p.m. Dec. 16.     Arts and crafts

    The 11th Annual Contemporary Hispanic Winter Market will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday; and from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center. Among the works exhibited will be various types of modern media including: painting, sculptures, photography, printmaking, furniture, ceramics, jewelry and more. Admission is free.

    Music
    Lads of Enchantment, a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, invites the public to join them in song. They meet at 7:15 p.m. on Thursdays at the United Church of Los Alamos, Graves Hall.  

    The Los Alamos Choral Society is currently recruiting singers for the 2011—2012 concert season. Rehearsals are from 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays at the United Church, 2525 Canyon Road. All singers are welcome.
     
    The Los Alamos Community Winds invites all interested musicians to join its upcoming concerts. The LACW rehearses from 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays. www.lacw.org.

    Tuff Riders Mountain Bike Club members ride each Tuesday and Thursday, leaving at 5:30 p.m. from the hospital parking lot. Newcomers are welcome.

    The Los Alamos Table Tennis Club meets to play table tennis from 7:30-10 p.m. Tuesdays and 9:30 a.m.-noon Saturdays in the lower level of the Betty Ehart Senior Center. Three tables are available.

    Drivers needed

    Los Alamos Lions Club provides services to the community, including the HELP program. The program provides free transportation for medical treatment and appointments outside the county. Patients are transported to Española, Santa Fe and Albuquerque. There are 30 drivers, but more are always needed. If you would like to be a volunteer driver call Barbara Croley at 672-3618 or Lee Sullivan at 661-8037.
