    Celebrate the national parks and get into the 4th of July spirit with the opening reception for a new exhibit of photos by Leslie Bucklin titled, “Enchanted Parks: A Photographic Tale of Life in Our National Parks.” Refreshments and gallery walk-through with the artist from 5-7 p.m. Show runs through Aug. 6.

    Mesa Public Library Free Film Series presents the next in the Foreign Film Series, “Volver” (R) from Spain. Directed by Pedro Almodovar starring Penelope Cruz, at 6:30 p.m. in the upstairs meeting rooms of Mesa Public Library.

    The White Rock Family Friendly Film Series presents “Miss Minoes” (PG), at 7 p.m. in the White Rock Town Hall.

  • La Leche League meets Monday

    La Leche League of Los Alamos will discuss “Breastfeeding and Avoiding Difficulties” at their monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Monday in the nursery at the United Church, 2525 Canyon Road.

    All interested, pregnant or breastfeeding women are welcome to learn and share, through mother-to-mother support, the basics and benefits of breastfeeding. A lending library with books and audio tapes concerning childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting and nutrition is available. Nursing babies and toddlers who have difficulty separating, are welcome.

Jemez Road. Tips and tools for toddlers through teens will be offered. The free class is open to parents, caregivers or those working with young people in any form.     The Los Alamos Historical Society’s Atomic Film Festival begins today in Fuller Lodge. The first feature film is Emmy Award-winning “Day One,” starring Brian Dennehy as Gen. Leslie Groves and David Straithairn as J. Robert Oppenheimer. Admission is free. Snacks and drinks will be available for a price.
