    The Juvenile Justice Advisory Board’s next meeting will be 6 p.m. at Building No. 1, Camino Entrada Road, Pajarito Cliffs Site. Vice Principal Carter Payne will give a presentation about the Saturday School program at Los Alamos High School. The public is welcome to attend.

    Grief Group is forming open to all members of the community who at some time have suffered the loss of someone dear to them. 1-2:30 p.m. at the United Church. The Group, facilitated by Pastor Logan, will meet in the lounge of the Christian education Building, off the Canyon Road parking lot.

  • DWI Planning council seeks volunteers

    The Los Alamos DWI Planning Council is seeking volunteer members.
    The DWI Planning Council works to prevent or reduce the incidence of DWI, the rate of injuries and fatalities caused by drug or alcohol-impaired drivers and underage drinking.
    The group meets monthly and those interested should contact Coordinator Linda Matteson for more information at 662-8241 or via email at Linda.Matteson@lacnm.us.

    Brown Bag at The Bradbury Science Museum. Ron Barber — Ancient stone calendars of the Southwest. Noon to 1 p.m. Barber of Los Alamos National Laboratory will discuss the role of celestial events in past civilizations through ancient rock art (petroglyphs, pictographs) at Los Alamos and elsewhere used as calendars, including for summer and winter solstice. Admission is free and open to the public. Attendees are welcome to bring their lunch.

  • La Leche League

    La Leche League of Los Alamos will be discussing “Advantages of Breastfeeding” at its monthly meeting, 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church teen room at 715 Diamond Dr.
    All interested, pregnant, or breastfeeding women are welcome to learn and share, through mother-to-mother support, the basics and benefits of breastfeeding. A lending library with books concerning childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting and nutrition is available. Nursing babies and toddlers who have difficulty separating are welcome.
    LLL is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing information, education, support and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed.

  • Santa Fe Women's Connection Outreach Luncheon

     

    The Santa Fe Women's Connection will have an outreach luncheon event. Noon Jan. 21 at the Doubletree by Hilton, 4048 Cerrillos Road in Santa Fe. Speaker Jeneane Herrera will present, "Daughter of the Queen, Daughter of the King." Jen Childers will be featuring clothing by Jockey.
