    Los Alamos Galleries

    Fall Fiber & Fashion will be on display through Nov. 13. Chimayó artist Theresa Montoya will show her retablos in the Portal Gallery.

    Art openings

    Twelve artists will exhibit their art to include: jewelry, glass, ceramics, sculpture and mixed media in a group show.     “Running High, Running Low: Trail Running in Copper Canyon and the Jemez,” an illustrated talk by David Coblentz will be at 7 p.m. at Pajarito Environmental Education Center, 3540 Orange St.  Coblentz will describe his running of a 50-mile ultramarathon with the native Tarahumara Indian runners of Mexico and note the geologic similarities and differences between the geology of the Sierra Madres and the Jemez. The talk is free and open to the public.

    The Los Alamos Historical Society invites you to the third talk of its 2010-2011 lecture series that will be held in the Pajarito Room of Fuller Lodge. Lectures start at 7:30 p.m. The lectures are free and open to the public.  The guest speaker will be Charles “Chick” Keller, who will speak about Los Alamos non-defense research: The once and future lab.  

    From 5-8 p.m. De Colores Restaurant will donate 20 percent of sales to the LAPS Foundation. Reservations encouraged, 662-6285.

    The Sierra Club is hosting Kim Ribbons from Bioneers, a global non-profit organization, at 7 p.m. at Mesa Public Library. Bioneers serves as a hub and source for breakthrough solutions for the issues facing us today.  Through conferences in the U.S. and internationally, globally syndicated radio series and other media outlets, Bioneers is encouraging a way to live on Earth that honors both people and planet.     The Authors Speaks Series will feature novelist and playwright Mark Dunn at
    7 p.m. in the upstairs rotunda at Mesa Public Library.

    7 p.m. at the Pajarito Environmental Education Center, 3540 Orange St. Goff will speak about the landscape of the Valles Caldera. The event is free and open to the public.
