  • People in the news 07-20-14

     

    Gina Stroud, of Los Alamos, recently received a degree of bachelor’s of science in biology and public health with a concentration in law and social justice from Santa Clara University. She graduated magnum cum laude and completed the university’s Honors Program. She was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa Society. 

    Stroud is a 2010 graduate of Los Alamos High School and will begin her first year at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.

    Anna Scott and Jessie Bohn, 2013 graduates of Los Alamos High School, recently completed their freshman years at Montana State University in Bozeman.

    The Los Alamos Table Tennis Club meets from 7:30-10 p.m. Tuesdays; and from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturdays, at the Betty Ehart Senior Center, lower level.     Art exhibits
    “Inside Out” art exhibition celebrating artwork by people treated for mental illness. From 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 11 at James Kelly Contemporary 1611 Paseo Peralta in the Santa Fe Railyard. All sales of art go to the artists. The exhibit is a collaborative effort to increase awareness and decrease stigma surrounding mental illness.

    Los Alamos artist Nels Krakowski will have an exhibition of artwork on display at the Santa Fe Public Library, 145 Washington Ave. in the Tybie Davis Satin Art Gallery located on the second floor. Artist reception and lunch, 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Burrito Company.

    Local Color: Judy Chicago in New Mexico 1984-2014 runs through Oct. 12.
