Wrestlers from Los Alamos grabbed five top-five finishes at the Greater Southwest Nationals tournament last month.
The Greater Southwest Nationals was held the week following the state prep wrestling meet. Several wrestlers from Los Alamos took part in the meet, which included wrestlers from all around the southwest region.
The tournament was held at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque.
The top finishers from Los Alamos were Brian Geyer and Bobby Sorenson, who both took second place in their respective age divisions.
Sorenson, a former standout wrestler from Los Alamos High School and current assistant coach for the Hilltoppers, took second in the 174-pound open division.
Geyer, who competed in two different age brackets, was second in the 160-pound, 14-and-under tournament and third in the 18-and-under competition.
Other top finishers included Wayne Saunders, who was third in the 12-and-under, 130-pound division and Chandler Lauritzen, who was fifth in the 14-and-under, 125-pound division.
At 140 pounds, Ben Mitsunaga earned a pair of victories.
