Blake Wood celebrated his 50th birthday by winning the Fourth Annual Ruby Ks Yum Run, held Oct. 18.
Wood won with an unadjusted time of 17:16, although he did not need the 2 minute, 16 second adjustment in the age-handicapped race. Wood finished 10 seconds ahead of second-place crosser Hans Hanson. But the comparatively young Hanson dropped to fifth as the older Bill Crooks, Jeff Johnson, and Clay Mosely all topped him after age adjustment.
In the women’s division, Vikki Saga won with an adjusted time of 19:11.
Dana Crooks, 12, beat out Susan Hanson for second place. Hanson, who actually crossed the finish line first, took third. Hanson was closely followed by Laura McClellan and another 12-year-old, Eliana Riciputi who tied for fourth.
In all, 97 runners finished the 5-kilometer race.
Nearly 40 children participated in the 1K fun run, including 2-year-old Tim Roscoulp.
Here are the results from the Oct. 18 Yum Run (times are age-adjusted).
